Welcome! Witam!
Hello and welcome to Polish Art Song Project!
Polish Art Song Project is designed for vocalists, educators, pianists, and enthusiasts of art song repertoire. Here, you will be able to learn more about vocal repertoire, composers, poets, and the Polish language. Our database currently consists of works by twelve composers from the Romantic era, but we are actively working to expand to include other eras and composers.
Within our database, individual biographies are available about each composer and poet as well as links to individual pieces cataloged. The links lead to PDFs of phonetic transcriptions using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and word-for-word translations. Additionally, links to performances and recordings will be provided whenever possible.
In line with the main goal of PASP, free diction resources will be available. These guides include a general overview of pronunciation rules as well as blog posts about more advanced topics in Polish lyric diction. Other blog posts will focus on individual pieces within our catalog and act more as a form of recital notes.
PASP hopes that this website will help promote the performance of Polish vocal repertoire by not only providing resources for study, but also by creating materials that make Polish lyric diction more approachable.
